Appeal to Unions - Shrewsbury Hub of the National Festival of LGBT History

I am writing on behalf of the Shrewsbury Hub of the National Festival of LGBT History, a completely volunteer-run group.

The Festival gives taster insights into Lesbian, Gay, Bi & Trans lives to illustrate how these stories have been written out of history and the impact that this now has. In February 2016, the Festival managed to outreach to nearly 1000 young people in schools and colleges in Shrewsbury and Telford, as well as over 300 people at events over the weekend - and the feedback has been amazing. If you could a minute then please have a look at this short video.

Of course, 2017 is of particular significance as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Act of Parliament which partially decriminalised homosexuality between men and we are planning a whole host of presentations, as well as further outreach to schools and colleges – see here for our developing programme

Following our successful Crowdfunder to get us started, we need funds to record the 2017 festival and accommodate our guests. As a supporter of LGBT communities, would you consider supporting the Festival? £500 would accommodate our theatre troupe; £1,000 would pay for a film-maker; £300 would pay for additional programmes to be printed and distributed free of charge. Every contribution is very much appreciated
